This review details an optimization tuning process designed to significantly elevate the audio performance of the Kia Carnival YP. Detailed Look at the CN & CSM Audio Package

The process began with the arrival of a custom CN Carnival Hi-Limousine at our facility. The owner sought to overcome the limitations of the stock audio system. Our meticulous vehicle intake and preparation, including thorough masking for protection, ensured a flawless start. We then proceeded with the installation of the CN & CSM exclusive car audio package, specifically configuration number 4.

Front Speaker and Door Treatment

The first step involved removing the door panels to replace the front speakers. Crucially, we performed extensive door sound deadening using our proprietary CSM damping material. This process effectively suppresses metal panel vibrations and ensures a perfect seal, maximizing the damping effect. The CSM material is known for its superior vibration control and durability, designed through extensive installation experience. Both front doors received this detailed treatment for optimal acoustic performance.

The Kia Carnival YP's front audio setup is a 3-way system, including tweeters, mid-range, and mid-woofer drivers. We installed French audio brand BLAM's LIVE series speakers directly into the factory locations. Rear Speaker and Subwoofer Integration

Similar to the front, the rear doors also underwent dual-layer sound deadening. Applying CSM damping material to the door cavity minimized standing wave phenomena. The removed door trims were reinforced with damping material and the original foam pads. The rear doors were fitted with BLAM LIVE L165P 2-way component speakers, mounted on custom-made birch wood plates to perfectly integrate into the original positions while maintaining a factory appearance.

The stock subwoofer in the Kia Carnival's premium sound options often lacks impact. We utilized the original subwoofer location for an upgraded unit, ensuring a perfect, gap-free seal against the vehicle body. The new subwoofer enclosure was secured using the factory bolts, and partial sound deadening was applied to mitigate vibrations from the more powerful driver. An 8-inch BLAM subwoofer was installed. To protect the trunk space, we fabricated a custom grille cover finished with the same material as the interior trim for a seamless look.

DSP Amplifier Tuning for Perfect Sound

The final stage involved amplifier upgrades. We integrated a HELIX 12-channel DSP, which is compatible with plug-and-play (jack-by-jack) wiring specific to the vehicle and options. For the upgraded subwoofer, a FOCAL mono amplifier was added to provide ample power. The DSP allows for precise sound tuning, including time alignment and equalization, to create an optimized soundstage tailored to the Carnival's interior. This comprehensive car audio installation transforms the listening experience.
