Revitalizing a Mercedes-Benz SLK: A Sound and Tech Upgrade

A customer brought their beloved 2-seater sports car, a Mercedes-Benz SLK, to our Busan facility seeking a significant upgrade. Originally equipped with a Harman Kardon system, the car's factory infotainment and audio system had begun to show its age. The original Android all-in-one unit suffered from performance degradation, a malfunctioning display, and disappointing speaker quality. The client's request was clear: "Can you make it feel like a new car again?" This led to a comprehensive project involving the installation of high-fidelity Focal speakers and a cutting-edge Musway Android all-in-one system, transforming the auditory and technological experience.

Diagnosing the Issues: What Needed Fixing

Our initial assessment revealed critical problems with the existing audio setup. The subwoofer was completely non-functional, and the midrange speakers were failing to deliver their intended performance. A more alarming discovery was the shoddy wiring left by a previous installer, posing a potential electrical hazard. This kind of subpar work, often done to cut costs by neglecting hidden components, is unfortunately common. Upgrading the Android all-in-one system in a Mercedes-Benz SLK is far more than a simple component swap; it requires a deep understanding of the vehicle's architecture to ensure proper audio signal transmission and precise tuning for each component to achieve peak performance. Installation Process:

1. System Diagnosis and Removal: Thoroughly inspected the existing audio and infotainment system, identifying faulty speakers and the degraded Android unit. Removed all old components and addressed any hazardous wiring issues.

5. Amplifier Connection and Tuning: Connected the 8-channel amplifier to the head unit and speakers, minimizing signal loss and meticulously organizing all wiring for optimal performance and safety. Final system tuning was performed to balance the audio output.

Featuring beryllium tweeters, these high-end speakers deliver exceptionally clear and detailed sound with a rich, solid bass foundation. Precise speaker placement and angling are crucial; we custom-fabricated chambers to ensure the optimal listening angle within the SLK's cabin. It offers seamless smartphone integration (both Android and iOS) and supports popular navigation, music streaming, and video platforms like Netflix and YouTube, even in split-screen mode. With a stable internet connection, the car's cabin transforms into a dynamic entertainment hub. To ensure the audio signal is delivered with maximum fidelity and minimal loss, an 8-channel amplifier was integrated. This setup, combined with meticulous wiring management, guarantees a powerful and crystal-clear sound experience, breathing new life into the Mercedes-Benz SLK.
