From a palette of over 50 "Wrapflex" colors, this specific shade was chosen to complement the 7 Series's substantial body lines while adding a touch of luxury.

The Challenge of Chrome Delete on the 7 Series

While seemingly straightforward, chrome delete requires meticulous attention to detail, especially on a vehicle like the 7 Series, which features numerous chrome accents. Over ten distinct areas were addressed, including the kidney grille surrounds, inner grille slats, door handles, lower side mirror covers, window trim, taillight frames, and the lower rear bumper sections.

The most intricate part of this process was the "kidney grille." Applying black film required precise avoidance of the BMW Iconic Glow illuminated areas. Each of the more than 30 vertical grille slats demanded individual application, cutting, and finishing – a testament to the high level of precision required. Despite the labor-intensive nature, perfecting this detail was crucial for the overall visual impact.

Areas with significant curvature, such as the lower side mirror covers, demanded extra care. Stretching the film over these complex shapes can easily lead to imperfections like wrinkles or creases if not handled with the correct temperature and pressure.
