The Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG W177 is a compact powerhouse, known for its aggressive styling and potent performance. However, some owners seek to elevate its already striking appearance to a truly unique level. This review details a comprehensive customization project involving a two-tone wrap, carbon PPF, and black PPF, designed to give the A45 AMG a bespoke look inspired by luxury marques like Rolls-Royce and Maybach.

Elevating Aesthetics and Protection with Advanced Films

The owner's vision was to completely reimagine the car's individuality, aiming for a finish that rivals factory paint. This ambitious goal was achieved through three key applications: a two-tone line to enhance the vehicle's profile, strategic use of carbon and matte films for a sporty edge, and the essential protection offered by PPF on the front end to maintain a pristine condition.

Smoked PPF for Headlights and Taillights

The customization began with the application of smoked PPF to the headlights and taillights. This not only imparts a deeper, more sophisticated hue to the lighting units but also provides a crucial layer of protection against minor scratches and road debris. The process involves meticulous cleaning and degreasing of the lens surfaces to ensure a flawless adhesion, followed by careful application and smoothing to eliminate any air bubbles or lifting.

Carbon PPF Hood Application

For the hood, UltraFit Carbon PPF was chosen. This material features a distinct, high-definition carbon fiber weave embedded within the protective film, offering a luxurious and aggressive aesthetic. Beyond its visual appeal, the carbon PPF acts as a robust shield, absorbing impacts from stone chips and preventing swirl marks that can occur during washing. Precise installation is critical, especially around the edges, where the film is carefully trimmed and tucked for a seamless, factory-like finish. The hydrophobic properties of the film are immediately apparent, causing water to bead and roll off.

Black PPF Roof Wrap

To complete the two-tone effect and lower the visual center of gravity, a black PPF was applied to the roof. This creates a sleek, unified appearance that complements the rest of the vehicle's modifications. The installation follows similar principles of surface preparation and careful application to ensure a smooth, bubble-free finish that enhances the car's dynamic lines.

Installation Process:

1. Thoroughly clean and degrease all surfaces to be wrapped.
2. Carefully apply the chosen PPF (Smoked, Carbon, or Black) to the designated panels.
3. Use specialized tools to squeegee out air bubbles and ensure complete adhesion.
4. Trim excess film precisely along panel edges and tuck where necessary for a seamless look.
5. Allow the film to cure properly to achieve maximum durability and clarity.
