The BMW X4 F26, with its dynamic coupe-SUV silhouette and sharp design lines, is a vehicle that demands attention. However, its sleek curves and prominent features, particularly the hood, headlights, and B-pillars (BC pillars), are highly susceptible to damage from stone chips, road debris, and everyday wear and tear. This review details a partial PPF (Paint Protection Film) application performed at Today's Car in Suwon, focusing on key areas of the BMW X4 to enhance its longevity and maintain its pristine appearance.

Hood PPF: Seamless Protection for a Large Surface

The expansive and subtly curved hood of the BMW X4 presents a unique challenge for PPF installation. To ensure a flawless finish and maximum protection, a single, large piece of AQ PPF was meticulously cut and applied. This one-piece application method offers significant advantages: it eliminates seams where dirt and moisture can accumulate, ensuring a uniform gloss across the entire surface without distracting reflections, and crucially, it prevents edge lifting or peeling over time.

The edge finishing is equally critical. Instead of simply trimming the film at the hood's edge, the installer carefully wrapped the film under the lip. This technique shields the film's edge from direct high-pressure water during car washes, significantly contributing to its long-term durability and preventing lifting for years to come.

Headlight PPF: Clarity and Resilience

Headlights are constantly bombarded by stone chips, insect splatter, and harmful UV rays, leading to yellowing and haziness over time, especially with frequent outdoor parking or long-distance driving. For this BMW X4, a high-clarity PPF was chosen to preserve the original light output, with less than a 2% reduction in light transmission compared to standard films which can cause a 5-10% loss. This premium film not only safeguards the delicate headlight lenses from minor impacts and scratches but also provides essential UV protection, keeping them crystal clear.

BC Pillar and Side Step Protection

The BC pillars, often black and glossy, are prone to fine scratches from door opening, closing, and washing. Similarly, the side steps on an SUV like the X4 are vulnerable to scuffs from shoes and debris. For the BC pillars, precision computer-cut patterns were used, minimizing the risk of damage to the paintwork during installation and ensuring a near-invisible edge. For the side steps, the installation focused on maintaining consistent tension across the curved and multi-level surfaces to prevent lifting, thereby protecting against scratches from footwear, sand, and car wash towels.

Installation Process:
