Professional Installation: Wiring and Safety

Properly distinguishing the wiring for the stock dash cam and the auxiliary battery is critical. Inadequate soundproofing of the wiring can lead to annoying rattles and vibrations during driving. Our technicians meticulously apply sound-dampening materials to all wiring harnesses for a clean and quiet installation. Furthermore, installing a dedicated ANS fuse for the auxiliary battery is non-negotiable. This fuse acts as a vital safety mechanism, preventing fires and battery malfunctions. Incorrectly connecting the fuse box's IN/OUT terminals can allow continuous power flow even if the fuse blows, risking damage to electronic components or even fire. This step absolutely requires professional expertise for accurate execution.

Strategic Battery Placement for the GLB

For the EcoPowerPack C-series batteries, we advise against installing them under the passenger footwell. Forcing the unit into this space can damage the footwell's cushioning and leave permanent indentations over time. Instead, the trunk offers the most practical and discreet location. Using the provided heavy-duty Velcro strips, the battery is securely fastened, preventing any movement while driving. Once the trunk liner is replaced, the battery remains completely hidden, with no impact on cargo space utilization.

How the Parking Mode Dash Cam System Works

During parking, the stock dash cam draws power from the auxiliary battery. The system is designed to automatically cease recording once the auxiliary battery's stored power is depleted, preventing over-discharge and protecting the battery's lifespan. This intelligent design ensures the battery remains healthy. When you start the engine, the vehicle's alternator automatically begins recharging the auxiliary battery. As the auxiliary battery charges, the dash cam's recording quality stabilizes, returning to optimal performance as it nears full capacity. This continuous charge and discharge cycle ensures the system operates seamlessly.

Installation process:

1. Consultation & Battery Selection: Assess driving habits and parking duration to choose the optimal auxiliary battery capacity.
2. Wiring Integration: Connect the auxiliary battery to the stock dash cam's power source, ensuring proper separation from vehicle wiring.
3. Safety Fuse Installation: Install a dedicated ANS fuse for the auxiliary battery to prevent electrical hazards.
4. Secure Placement: Mount the auxiliary battery in a chosen location (e.g., trunk) using secure fastening methods.
